On the 6th of March, the 20th anniversary of the EBAN (European Business Angels Network) was celebrated, honoring a long history of supporting Business Angels, entrepreneurs and the European ecosystem in its initial stages in general.
The celebration took place at the European Economic and Social Committee, in the same room where, more than 20 years ago, information about Business Angels was first presented to the European Association of Development Agencies (EURADA), which would create EBAN in 1999 .
With the founders of EBAN, as well as many of the individuals who contributed to its success in service, the anniversary celebration was launched by EBAN President Peter Cowley. Kristin Schreiber, Director of the COSME Program and SME Policy, made the first speech, talking about the long-term support of the European Commission and the collaboration with EBAN, as well as about the various initiatives they implemented to help develop angel investment in Europe. "Business angels are driven not by profit, but by a desire to help create and expand companies, dedicating their time and risking their money to help entrepreneurs," commented Schreiber, thanking EBAN for the work.
